NFL Draft Props Odds: Trent Richardson and Ryan Tannehill Order

When the 2012 NFL draft begins Thursday night in New York, there won’t be any drama in picks No. 1 and No. 2. The Colts will take Stanford’s Andrew Luck with the first overall pick. The last time Indy had that pick it worked out pretty well with some Peyton Manning guy.

Now luck has to replace him. And at No. 2, the Washington Redskins will take Baylor QB Robert Griffin III, the Heisman winner. The Skins already traded a fortune in picks to the Rams to move up from No. 6 to No. 2.

It’s when the Minnesota Vikings pick at No. 3 where this draft will start to get unpredictable. And with that we look at two very intriguing players and where they will land: Alabama running back Trent Richardson and Texas A&M QB Ryan Tannehill and their NFL player prop odds at Bovada.

Richardson is considered the best offensive prospect in this draft other than Luck and Griffin. But the Vikings don’t need him as they have Adrian Peterson – some scouts rate Richardson the best RB prospect since Peterson. Meanwhile, Tannehill’s stock has skyrocketed. He wasn’t even a full-time QB until halfway through his junior year. Wherever Richardson or Tannehill goes first could well determine where the other player lands up.

So where will Richardson go? The Cleveland Browns pick No. 4 and have a huge need at running back. And Richardson is the -200 favorite there. But Cleveland also isn’t sold on another former QB from the Lone State State, ex-second-round pick Colt McCoy, and could choose to make Tannehill their QB of the future. And Tannehill is the second-favorite to go No. 4 at +150.

The Tampa Bay Bucs are currently No. 5 but they don’t need a QB with Josh Freeman in place. They could use a running back, even with LeGarrette Blount on the roster. Richardson is +200 to go fifth overall, the second-favorite on that prop behind LSU defensive back Morris Claiborne.

Could Richardson slip to the Rams at No. 6? St. Louis running back Stephen Jackson is getting up there in age and having Richardson would probably allow the Rams to waive Jackson and save salary. But Richardson is only +300 to go No. 6 as most don’t expect him to sit that long.

The one team most linked to Tannehill is the Miami Dolphins, who currently pick No. 8. The Fins lost out on Manning and free agent Matt Flynn this season and currently are planning on Matt Moore and David Garrard to battle for the top job. But Tannehill is the -200 favorite to land at No. 8 overall. Of course, the Dolphins could always trade up ahead of Cleveland to get him. Tannehill’s over/under draft position is No. 8, with the over a -150 favorite.
